A country pub at Dunham Massey

The Swan with Two Nick pub. Swans were always marked with two nicks on their beaks. These belonged to two company's. The Vintner's and the Dyer's. The rest belonged to the Queen with three nicks on the beak. In 1997 it was decided to stop nicking the beak. The Swan Marker's on the Thames now use Rings on their legs. The Queens swans are ringed on their right legs and the two company's on their left legs. All have date codes and coats of arms on the rings. How do they know who belongs to who I hear you say. The marking is done when the Swans are Swanlets so they look at the parents for Identification. Swans are protected birds
