In Lincoln Square in Manchester their is a Statue of Abraham Lincoln. You may ask why? When the Civil War in America was at its height 1861 to 65 Cotton had stopped entering the Country, there for Causing a famine in Manchester as the workers were out of work. Lincoln was determine to stamp out Slavery. The Slaves picked all the Cotton in the South. The City Fathers sent a letter to Lincoln praising him in his attempt to abolish slavery. He was so moved by the Letter. He sent one back to Manchester praising the Cities Forbearance and understanding. It didn't help the Starving Workers over here. They later erected the Statue too him and Named a Square after him.
