The Potato Wharf

This is the Wharf where all the commerce was done. In the 1900s with up to 700,000 tons a year going to and fro from Manchester and Yorkshire and on to The Manchester Ship Canal. Goods were Cotton, Wool, Coal, Limestone, Timber, Salt, and General Goods. The Railways started to take over in a very competitive market so the Canals were neglected.
